The travellers i talked to before i went to Vietnam were somewhat very different on their opinions of the country. Some liked it, some hated it. I didn’t really know what to expect but i was decided i’d give it a chance. And so i found myself in Ha Tien – a little town just near Cambodian border. And my first thoughts? I don’t like this. I felt so lost it was weird. I couldn’t communicate with anyone because almost noone spoke English, i couldn’t find any place to stay or eat and people were just staring at me like i was the biggest alien on the world. I was confused, lonely and i wanted to get out of that as soon as possible.
I decided to go to Can Tho and see the Mekong Delta. It was just another strange city, only bigger. I didn’t like to be lost in all that concrete and i started feeling like Vietnam wasn’t really the best decision. But as i was already there i wanted to make the best of it. So one day i went to see the floating market and it was a very interesting experience. The life on the river like i never imagined it. I was amazed by how well the river system works and where people by the river are living. It’s a whole different world because the river holds so much life for these people: it’s their food, their shower, their toilet, their washing machine, their whole life actually. It was a very interesting experience and i was thankful i got it.

I continued my way to Central Vietnam, a town called Dalat. That was a whole new world for me and i started feeling that while we were driving there. It’s a town surrounded by nature and with a very different atmosphere than the South. It has a small lake and nice people. It’s a nice place to wonder around and get lost a little bit. I loved the abundance of greenery because it makes my heart and mind sing. I loved the colorful houses and nice people. I was starting to like Vietnam.
